Automotive Engine
The main components of the internal combustion engine, engine blocks, cylinder heads, cylinders, pistons, valves, and crankshaft. At the bottom of the engines, called the engine blocks, the cylinder houses the piston and the crankshaft. No other engine components or systems of screws loose in the engine blocks. The unit will be built with the internal rules of lubricants and refrigerants. The engine blocks of a cast of iron or aluminum and consists of a series of round cylinders.
Summit is the engine of values. Screwed to the top of the window, seal the top of the cylinder. The piston compresses the air and fuel into the cylinder before ignition. The rod connects to the bottom of the piston to the crankshaft. Camp 2 ends of the rod in turn, transfer the vertical motion of the piston effect crankshaft rotation, or torque. Movement of the piston, crankshaft rotates at a speed of 600 to several thousand revolutions per minute (rpm) depending on the amount of fuel delivered to the cylinders.
Gasoline vapors and exhaust gases leaving the combustion chamber through openings in the cylinder is under the control valves. The other side of the stem mechanically connected to a crankshaft, there is a round bar with the wrong form of shares in engine block or cylinder head is connected. Intake valves open, because the fuel in the combustion chambers in operation. Drain valve open so that the exhaust gases.
Belt or chain links the crankshaft to the shaft. Blogs in internal combustion engines used in the first drawings and in accordance V line, so that the bottles are arranged in a line on the crankshaft. Design of two cylinder banks in the corner of the form V in the bottom of the V that is the crankshaft. Setting Line 6 or 8 cylinders issues require a long time mostly trucks than cars. The design allows the V same number of cylinders in the chamber, installation, shorter but wider. Another explanation may be the ultimate engine, places to see a flat horizontal floor or against the agreement, in which the crankshaft between the two parts of cylinders.
Engines more fuel, such as size and number of cores increases. Most modern cars in the USA 4 -, 6 – or 8-cylinder engines and car engines are designed with 1, 2, 3, 5, 12 and a few bottles.
Diesel engines, often in large trucks and buses, are comparable to gasoline-powered engines, internal combustion engines, but I have another ignition system. Diesel compression of air in the cylinder with more power than the petrol engine produces temperatures hot enough fuel in contact with fire. Some vehicles rotary engines, also known as engines Winkle number, known in elliptic triangular rotors instead of pistons in place.
Electric motors used to power the car at the end of 1800. Electricity generated by the battery, the only car, which turns the shaft after shaft engine power is transmitted to the axle. General Motors Corporation introduced a series of fully electric vehicles in mid-1990.
The engine, which combines two or more types of hybrid engines, is called. Typical hybrid electric batteries with a generator to charge a small amount of gas or diesel engine to control these hybrids are known as hybrid electric vehicles (massage). In focus more on electricity and less fuel consumption, hybrid electric vehicles are really efficient and emit less pollution. Several automakers have experimented with hybrids.
In 1997 Japan manufactured the first hybrid car and sold in North America. It was the starting point of the creation of modern cars now.
Automotive Carpet Extractor
The other day a friend of mine was discussing a few problems with one of his cars and the subject of cleaning came up. We talked about some interesting stuff, so I decided to share a few things with those that would like to learn. As many of you already know, most cars have carpets as foot mats. Others generally have plastic or rubber mats to keep the dirt out, but that is not what I would like to discuss in this post. This article will mainly focus on a new way to keep a cars floor mat clean.
So to cut a long story short – I told him about automotive carpet steam cleaners and how they could help out with his current situation. Some call them automotive carpet extractors, but I call them otherwise. The extractor part is focused mainly on removing dirt and other dirty things from a car’s carpet. So, the question to answer here is whether or not they really work. Sorry folks, but that answer is undoubtedly yes.
Well, that last statement is not entirely true. There are some things that factor in the equation like possessing the know how to actually work the machine and using the right model, but we wont get into that today. I just want to do a basic overview of how they actually work. Unlike a regular portable vacuum, these portable carpet cleaners use much more than just a suction mechanism. Many of the actually have a complex working mechanism, but basically most of them use a steam to bust out most of the dirt that has stuck to the surface. Its really that simple, but I would like to discuss prices before I wrap this thing up. The prices on these items are pretty fair when you consider what they do. A person just has to decide how much the work that something like this could do is worth to them. For somewhere around fifty dollars, it seems like a pretty viable piece of equipment that would come in handy. Note that the estimate listed is nothing more than an estimate because as most know prices vary depending on a few different factors. Brand and features are just two of them.
Automotive Super Sales
Each year, automotive dealers invest large amounts of money on “mailer/super sales” – sometimes as much as $15-20,000 to mail up to 30,000 direct mail pieces.
Whether these sales events meet/don’t meet expectations is generally based on a number of factors including coordinating Point of Purchase (“POP”) materials.
At the end of these sales, the outside sales team sent in to manage these sales leaves your dealership – but their reputation stays. Accordingly, if you’re hiring an outside sales team to work these events, please check out their reputation as it will become YOUR reputation.
Here are a couple of ideas to make your “Mailer/Super Sale” successful:
1) If you must adjust pricing on a vehicle, do it at least 2 days BEFORE the sale starts, and ensure that price is reflected on ALL web sites and print ads and where your inventory is listed. Many customers spend time researching your vehicle inventory before they actually arrive at your dealership.
2) Match you POP supplies to your mailer colors -if it’s a red, white, blue sale and those colors are on the actual mailer, use red, white and blue balloons, flags, dancing men, hot air balloon shaped Inflatables, hangtag’s, etc. Customers need to recognize it’s YOUR STORE having the event.
3) If you are giving out gift cards to induce customers to visit your store, you may want to consider giving a $5.00 VISA gift card with your dealership logo on the card. Why give free advertising to another retailer?
4) Have an official greeter – not the salesperson – to help manage the traffic flow, as these events often promote sales people “cherry-picking” customers.
5) When greeting customers, make sure to request the customer’s email address so you can give them your Facebook or Twitter page. Customers are more likely to contract with someone they know, and this is a perfect way for them to get to know you. You’ll want these customers to remember you tomorrow, long after the outside sales team has departed your dealership.
Automotive Glass: Types and Uses
Cars, trucks and similar automobiles use two main types of glasses for windshields and side mirrors. These are referred to as Automotive Glass. These two types are namely tempered and laminated safety glass. Tempered glass in vehicles is generally used in rear and side glasses. Tempered glass is very strong in comparison to normal glasses in terms of strength. The reason being is that it is created by heating on very high temperatures. This makes the glass very strong and is able to withstand force up to a certain extent. The good thing about laminated glass is that it breaks up into little pebble shaped pieces instead of the edgy pieces that normal glass makes.
Laminated Glass is another type of Automotive Glass which is made in a similar way as the tempered glass but the difference being is that it is made up of two pieces of glass and is covered with a layer of vinyl. Hence the name laminated glass. The vinyl and the glass are pressed together in an oven called the autoclave. The reason for the vinyl cover is that suppose if the glass breaks, there are less chances that it will fall on the person. Instead, the broken debris will hang on the vinyl itself. This is the reason this glass is called safety glass.
There are many incidences where one needs to change Automotive Glasses in vehicles. There can be a tragic accident involving the glass to break. Not only accidents, a small pebble can make a little crack in the windshield and then this crack or better called as vein can develop due the vibration of the car as time passes. Driving under such conditions can pose a potential damage to the glass or to the car itself. Driving with a damaged windshield is an offence at some places.
Protective measures for your Automotive Glass:
Fixing a windshield can be the least bothersome activity if you follow the proper instructions or get the specialists. You don’t even need to go to him, just need to call him and he’ll take care of the thing. The Automotive Glass specialist will detach the wipers, molding and cowl of the car and take out the damaged windshield. He will also clear out the any dust or any other particles present at the glass site. He will especially clear out all the left over glue in the place. Then he will apply new glue in the same place and set the glass there. It is not advisable to drive the car for sometime as the glass needs to be set in the place first.
Incase of the small vein, the Automotive Glass specialist can help you in a cheaper manner. He cleans the nick part and then applies resin to it. He also uses Mylar which is a part of the cover. He then dries the cover with UV light and then scraps of the unwanted resin. Then after the glass is polished, it looks safe to drive.
Hose Reel Choices in Automotive Businesses
If you run an automotive service business you know you will need quality hose reels for fluids, you also knows if the seals fail you will have whatever fluid is going thru that hose reel all over the ground or you shop. Being in the automotive business myself, I have studied the hose reels out on the market and have some good ideas.
Our Franchise Team choose the Cox Reel company’s newest stainless steel models for our latest units. After studying in the Industry and looking at some of the other companies out there, we were determined to upgrade. We recently saw another company’s hose reels pumping Citgo Brand Oil Products through their old hoses and reels. That may be fine for other companies, but not for us. We cannot allow our brand name to be attached to such equipment. You should consider these ideas when setting up your shops.
Many would disagree with our theory about customer perception as many of you have seen in the marketplace; a lackadaisical attitude towards image, brand, quality of equipment and even basic and general maintenance. Others insist that since you are dealing with dirty oil that there is no reason to keep your equipment clean. Without condemning the market competitors, because this really has been the norm for 50 or more years, we believe it is time for the pendulum to shift. You should pay attention to image in your automotive business. We believe it is time to respect the customer and bring quality and service back to America. Some would say we are crazy, however, if the equipment is in an enclosed environment until the time it is to be used, it is not all that hard to keep it spiffy.
If you will look at Fire Fighting Equipment and your local fire department, most likely you will see clean and shiny equipment. Why is this the standard and in other industries equipment and its care is reduced to the lowest common denominator? How can a service company be in the preventive maintenance business when their equipment is thrashed, breaking down all the time or in a state of disrepair? At our company made it clear to all potential team members what we stand for and we often turn down applications of those who think that getting by is good enough. Because just getting by is not acceptable. No matter what you do in life, go 100%. We believe that! Any US Marine will tell you that a dirty weapon can jam in the heat of battle. Automotive businesses should be proud and go with a hose reel, which looks sharp and is durable, this is why after reviewing all the industry reels we are going with the new stainless steel Cox Reels. Something to think on as you outfit your shop.
Automotive Scams
Buying a car new or used is not always a picnic you need to watch out for scam dealers who work around the clock trying to get that deal from you no matter how much it costs. You pay through the nose and end up with a piece of junk if you are not careful. Many times a used vehicle may not be worth the asking price because it was involved in an accident, messed up pretty badly, and the problems are masked so you the buyer are not aware of the problems. You should not fall for the “scam dealer” tricks to push you into buying the car today. It is a common practice for a dealer who is trying to unload a lemon to force you into buying by making remarks like “better buy today can’t promise this car will be here tomorrow.” The odds are the vehicle has been on the lot for a month of Sunday’s and impossible to unload or they know it does not have much left in it and eventually will not start up at all. A really desperate dealer might even go so far as to ask if you want the car then what will it take to get you to go ahead sign today because we can’t hold the car just for you. Remarks like this are some of the oldest tricks in the business.
The scam dealer who is trying to get you to buy a certain vehicle and has added a lot of fee’s in order to get you to pay more probably will tell you that “everybody pays this fee, it is standard procedure.” This again is just a scam to get a bigger down payment or add more to your loan agreement. When you are trying to bargain on a used car to get the price down it is a common thing for a car salesperson to make silly remarks like “I am loosing the shirt off my back,” in truth he probably took the car in on trade and did not pay anything to the party who did the trade.
These sayings are common knowledge and used for years by car dealers and are not meant to copy anyone person or dealership if they are used elsewhere is in print it is a coincident not copied. We are not trying to reflect any particular dealership tactics instead we are speaking in an overall manner of any dealership who uses these types of tactics in there sales techniques. Unfortunately, there are dealerships out there that use scam tactics as a means of selling vehicles but we also like to here give applause to the many who are honest, hardworking and loyal dealers. We realize that without these dealers no one would ever be able to get a vehicle and have it financed in the proper manner. We hope that this article will help the consumer to open there eyes to the everyday scammer who uses this type of verb age in order to make a sale. This is the oldest manner of horse-trading as it is referred in the books so beware the sales person who tell you “you are stealing food from his baby’s mouth.” Check out the Babe!
Automotive Tools for Your Home Garage
You can save hundreds of dollars on garage fees every year by carrying out minor servicing and maintenance jobs on your car yourself. Armed with a selection of widely available automotive tools, a garage manual for your car, and enough time and patience to get a job done properly, pretty much anyone can carry out the routine tasks needed to keep your car on the road and running smoothly.
One of the most satisfying aspects of carrying out maintenance tasks on your vehicle – aside from saving money on expensive garage bills – is that you are able to get an understanding of how the car works, and the more you understand about the vehicle, the easier it is to put things right in the event of a breakdown.
Any home garage requires a good selection of automotive tools to carry out work on a car. Some vehicles from certain manufacturers have non standard machining and sizes used throughout their construction, and you will need to get automotive specialty tools designed for the purpose of working on that particular car from a motor store. No home workshop is complete without a trolley jack and axle stands to allow you to get under the car and do things like oil changes and exhaust checks.
For most small jobs, such as changing the oil or replacing filters, changing the spark plugs and brake pads on your vehicle, general tools such as a wrench and a screwdriver are all that is required, and these are widely available in most hardware stores. It is a good idea to keep your automotive tools separate from other tools you may have, because if you begin a job and then discover that the tool you want to use is missing, it can cause major headaches.
Twenty years ago, cars were much simpler to maintain and understand than they are today. Computerised engine management systems and adjustable fuel injectors are now commonplace, and special automotive diagnostic tools are required in order to make adjustments to the engine timing and fuel air mix, whereas in the past, these jobs could be done quite simply.
Areas of the car that almost anyone can handle the regular maintenance of are the interior and exterior panels. Simple scratches and dents to the bodywork are easy to repair using a soft mallet for panel beating and abrasive paper, spray paint and filler for paintwork repairs.
If your car is well used, the interior is likely to start to look tired and dated and in need of a little tender loving care. Thankfully, there are many automotive upholstery tools available to help you to tidy up the interior of the car and bring it back to its sparkling best. You can repair small tears and burns on the seats by darning them or applying a repair patch over the affected area. The trim of the car can be brought back to life with a good buffing using a polisher, while using specialist tools it is possible to repair the carpets or even replace them.
Of course there is much more to owning and maintaining a car than just tightening nuts and sewing up split seams, and you may find that you want to add non-stock parts such as a more efficient air filter or new exhaust to improve performance, and once you understand the basics of automotive maintenance, upgrades and tuning will become more accessible, saving you even more money in the long term.
Doing small jobs yourself can save you plenty of money on garage bills, and having the right automotive tools to get the jobs done is an excellent idea that will save you time and effort in the long run. However, one of the most important things for any mechanic to know is when to pass over a job to an expert, and rather than potentially do more damage than good, to get a qualified mechanic to carry out work on a car.
Automotive Refinishing
Over the last 20 years, we have seen variations of basic colors that have stretched the imagination. The color blue show hints of green, red or purple and many other colors. How is this possible? In the old days, there were the basic colors of red, blue, green, yellow, black and white. That was about it and you could pick your color of choice. Because the paint was a lacquer-based paint, this allowed for a lot of flexibility when repairing but did not have the durability of today’s vehicle paints. It was possible to repair a small spot in the middle of a door and paint the repaired area without removing all the components of the door or everything from the adjacent panel as is done now.
This is all possible due to the introduction of a 2 part refinishing system known as 2-stage or base coat clear coat. It all begins with what the manufacturer requests from the chemists who make the formula for the color. A manufacturer may want to have the best gloss and the surface to be resistant to scratches. They also will want the paint surface to be resistant to atmospheric pollution, such as acid rain, tree sap, bird droppings, stone chipping, etc. The manufacturer will almost certainly have to give up something to achieve something else. For example, if they want gloss they will have to give up a little durability. If their concern is durability, the gloss may not be quite as nice. Most car manufacturers in trying to keep costs down will opt to play a game of give and take with the clear coat surface. Some vehicle manufacturers apply a special primer to the front of the hood in order to reduce rock chips. This primer is chemically treated to be softer and gives the rock a softer base to contact upon impact.
At the factory, the vehicle body shell is submerged in a tank that contains anti corrosion chemicals with a zinc rich base. This process gets into the small areas that would be impossible to get to with a conventional sprayer. Then the shell is t submerged in tanks containing 2 part epoxy primers and sealers, which provide a good base for the paint to adhere to. The paint is negatively charged and sprayed via computer-controlled sprayers. This is the base coat part of the application process.
The next step requires the application of the positively charged clear coat. The clear coat is composed of resins and is urethane based. The clear coat positive ions draw the negative base coat outwards towards the clear coat. Within the base coats are pigmented flakes, which contribute to the final color. This is the reason why it is possible to view three similar vehicles that have the exact same paint code and see three different variances. The collision repair facilities have to match the variant color for a perfect match.
This article is intended to give a general overview of the differences in paint properties that have occurred in the past. There are new processes that will be discussed later.
Is Your Automotive Carpet Beyond Cleaning?
Replacing your worn out automotive carpet is fairly easy once you determine the items that must be removed to do the job. Automotive carpet is similar with other conventional carpeting found on the houses and structural buildings and. The best automotive Carpet is a usually made of a very high quality 100% Olefin pile. Most automotive carpet is made from nylon though, which is normally a very durable and long-wearing material.
When I search for a automotive carpet, I want original fit and finish and I want the highest quality materials. Custom molded new automotive carpet for most foreign and domestic vehicles including cars, trucks, vans and SUVs are what I prefer, and pre-cut of course. Nothing beats a top quality custom fit automotive carpet, made to fit your automobile like the original. It’s even possible now to cover your custom car and stage cabinets just like the pros.
Is your automobiles carpet beyond cleaning? The absolute best way to clean your automotive carpet is by a hot water extraction method that uses solution based cleanser, dubbed ‘steam cleaning’. Pro detailers tend to agree that household carpet-cleaning products work equally well on an automotive carpet. When cleaning carpeting, pre-treat any spots with an automotive stain remover. You can buy a Whole House Carpet Cleaning for around $95. Great for cleaning dirty upholstery, muddy floor mats and filthy. You need to know what to look for before starting the cleaning process. Professional cleaning is recommended once every 12 months.
Typically, an automotive carpet is placed over cotton shoddy or a uniform polymer based mat. What makes some automotive recoloring and dyeing systems so much easier is that most automotive carpet is made of nylon. Locating choices for your automotive carpet is as easy as a few clicks. Automotive carpet is only available in many colors like black, charcoal and light grey.
